About

Thomas Bayes

Thomas Bayes (c. 1701 - April 7, 1761) was a British mathematician, statistician, and Presbyterian minister, best known for laying the foundations of Bayesian probability. His most influential contribution is Bayes' theorem, which describes how to update the probability of a hypothesis in light of new evidence. Although his work received little attention during his lifetime, it was published posthumously and later developed by Pierre-Simon Laplace. Today, the Bayesian approach is fundamental in fields such as statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and decision-making under uncertainty.
