Mária Telkes
Mária Telkes (December 12, 1900 - December 2, 1995) was a Hungarian-American scientist and inventor, recognized as one of the pioneers in the research and development of solar energy technologies. She was among the first to design practical systems for domestic solar use, including the solar oven and the solar heating system for homes. One of her most notable achievements was the creation of the “Solar House” in collaboration with architect Eleanor Raymond in 1948. Her visionary work laid the foundation for modern solar technology and established her as a key figure in 20th-century sustainable science.
